ABOUT US
Sleep On It was a Chicago-based band formed in 2012. The lineup included lead vocalist Zechariah Pluister, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Theodore Horansky, bassist AJ Khah, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Jacob Marquis, and drummer Luka Fischman. The band released two studio albums and three EPs before disbanding on September 4, 2020.
Sleep On It originated in Logan Square, Chicago, during the summer of 2012. The founding members were lead guitarist TJ Horansky, secondary guitarist Jake Marquis, bassist AJ Khah, drummer Luka Fischman, and lead vocalist John Cass. In 2013, they recorded their debut EP, "Everything, All At Once," with producer Paul Leavitt at Gravity Studios in Chicago. The EP was independently released on February 11, 2014.
On May 23, 2015, the band released the single “Bright,” which premiered on Alternative Press. TJ Horansky explained that “Bright” is about appreciating the important things and people in life and learning from mistakes. The song’s nostalgic lyrics and summertime music made it the choice for the first single.
In early 2015, the band recorded their second EP, “Safe Again,” at Valencia Studios in Baltimore with Paul Leavitt. Released on June 18, 2015, this six-track EP was followed by a tour. On November 5, 2015, lead vocalist John Cass left the band, prompting the remaining members to continue writing and recording new material.
On March 8, 2016, Sleep On It introduced their new lead vocalist, Zech Pluister, formerly of Bonfires, with the single and music video “Burning at Both Ends.” Later that year, on August 25, they signed with Equal Vision Records, premiered the single “Unspoken,” and announced their third EP, “Lost Along the Way.” This EP, produced by Seth Henderson with contributions from State Champs’ lead vocalist Derek DiScanio, was released on October 21, 2016.
The band released their debut studio album, “Overexposed,” on November 3, 2017. In February 2019, original bassist AJ Khah left the band, initially stating he wanted to focus on other projects. However, it was later revealed that his departure was due to experiencing racism from other band members and being forced out by Pluister.
Sleep On It’s second studio album, “Pride and Disaster,” was released on September 13, 2019.
